COMPLETE DENTURES

19. INSERTING THE DENTURES
Clinical Remount

Check the occlusion as you did in the try-in. Note where (if) the prematurity exists. Record the new centric using your recording medium of choice, making sure that the teeth do not touch. Remount the mandibular and correct the occlusion on the articulator. You want simultaneous bilateral contact of equal intensity.

Here again you want to make sure the denture bases are not contacting posteriorly. If you are in doubt, cover the tuberosity with pressure paste and tell the patient to grind their teeth. If the bases are touching the paste will be disturbed.

Sometimes the patient closes and then there is a shift into the occlusion you want. This is a premature contact of a cusp hitting an inclined plane. Alter the cusp or the incline without disoccluding.
