COMPLETE DENTURES

11. SECONDARY IMPRESSION
Voids in the Impression

Irregular shaped depressions sometimes occur. The outlines are well defined, and the base of the void usually has a dull appearance. (If you can't see the outline of the defect, take another impression. Let your instructor decide if a re-do is necessary.) Fill the void with Korecta wax. (Use the orange color wax because it is very soft. ) This wax flows at body temperature. Re-seat the impression for five minutes to pick up the missing details. Wax can be added or subtracted until you get what you want. Don't use rubber base to fill in voids because you can't control the flow of the material.
