Sometimes with deleted mandibular ridges the genial tubercle "raises" its ugly head. Should the tray and eventually the denture cover it or not? The rule is to end the denture on soft tissue. If there is soft tissue between the ridge and the tubercle I end it there. Otherwise I cover the tubercle.
I usually relieve the tray a little in the area of the tubercle.
